Mbantua Festival – Awakening the Desert is a historic new initiative for Alice Springs and Australia that is being held from 9th-13th October 2013. This world class event will bring together hundreds of Indigenous performers and artists from across Central Australia.
The Mbantua Festival provides a unique and authentic experience of Central Australian Indigenous desert cultures and communities through traditional and contemporary music, dance, theatre, art, film and food.
The panoramic desert festival site opens on Saturday 12 October for the art market where over twenty Desart member art centres will be selling affordable and collectable artwork ranging from fibre art, to paintings, jewellery, sculptures, books and beautiful prints. Coinciding with the art market will be a vibrant program of workshops, demonstrations and forums that promote sharing among Indigenous and other Australians. Workshops include painting, weaving, jewellery-making, bush medicine and bush tucker.
A not to be missed event!
