Stories from the artists. One mob, desert mob.

Desert Mob 2017 Symposium

Friday 8th September, Araluen Arts Centre Theatre, 10am-3:30pm

The Desert Mob Symposium celebrates the artistic and cultural achievements of the artists of Desart-member Aboriginal art centres. The rich program of insightful presentations by Aboriginal artists, their art centres, and special guests explores contemporary concerns through art that is grounded in deep cultural knowledge.

Expand your understanding of the Aboriginal art of Central Australia and further afield – learn about tomorrow’s stars now.

You’ll hear from leading and emerging Aboriginal artists about their current and evolving arts practices and projects.  The Desert Mob Symposium is an integral part of Desert Mob, the annual and most anticipated Aboriginal art event in the nation, presented in partnership with the Araluen Arts Centre in the heart of Australia.

This year’s line-up includes presentations from Hermannsburg Potters, Tjanpi Desert Weavers, Barkly Regional Arts, Warakurna Artists, Tjarlirli Arts and Papulankutja Artists plus many more.
