About the Opportunity An exciting and challenging opportunity for a suitably experienced creative, passionate, innovative person with strong business acumen for the position of Art Development Specialist (Art Co-ordinator) is required to shape our Bindi Enterprises Arts Program through the next phase. This is a full time position, located in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. The Art Development Specialist (Art Co-ordinator) will play a critical role in the success of the Gallery and team management, the position leads the concept and development of exhibitions and projects to fulfill the vision, mission and strategic objectives of the organisation.
The role of the Art Development Specialist (Art Co-ordinator) is to engage with artists to facilitate the production of artworks of a high standard, promote sales of artworks and facilitate the ongoing viability of the Bindi Mwerre Anthurre Artists studio. The ideal applicant will enjoy working in a diverse and busy environment with a high degree of people and public contact. In addition, the person will be culturally sensitive and have a strong awareness and commitment to working collaboratively with Aboriginal people, culture and local community to raise, advocate and promote Aboriginal Arts and Culture. What can you expect from this challenging, operational role complimented with a strategic focus?
A snapshot of the successful person may include (but not limited to):
- organise and liaise with gallery managers to produce and curate exhibitions on a national scale;
- extensive collaboration and relationship building with key stakeholders on a local, national and international scale;
- lead, manage and supervise a small team;
- represent the art centre at conferences, conventions and events;
- strengthen the skills and capacity of the art centre in the arena of Arts and Culture;
- planning and accountability from an operational and strategic objective;
- act as an agent on behalf of Artists; responsibility for maintaining and establishing appropriate retail value of artwork, copyright, moral rights, intellectual property, reproduction licences and resale royalties;
- writing grant applications, project management and grant acquittals
- manage the art and culture portfolio, including timely and efficient reporting, correspondence, budget, database maintenance and BMAA web site and social media promotion including updates, marketing, sales and awards

Ideally what you bring to the role and the team:
- Generous in sharing your expertise, knowledge and skills to mentor your team.
- Knowledge of the visual arts sector, professional painting practices and ideally knowledge of the Aboriginal arts industry in Central Australia.
- Knowledge of the disability sector and experience working with people with a disability.
- Commitment, respect and understanding for Aboriginal people, culture, community and identity.
- Experience in cross-cultural environments.
- Proven capability to efficiently store, catalogue, name and price artworks in preparation for sale.
- Possess strong operational business acumen, with a view to increasing studio capacity to deliver financial sustainability.
- Proven capability to organise, produce and curate exhibitions on a national scale.
- Ability to strengthen, maintain and developing key stakeholder relationships.
- Current NT driver license.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to develop and procure new business opportunities.
How to Apply

- Demonstrate relevant tertiary qualifications in curatorship, museology, arts management and/or extensive professional art industry experience.
- Substantial experience in developing notable exhibitions.
- Sound knowledge of arts and visual arts practise.
- Highly evolved organisational and prioritisation coupled with the ability to work under pressure.
- Cultural sector background, superior communication, organisational, writing and computer skills in order to effectively consult with and gain the trust of a wide range of project stakeholders.
- Extensive relationship management
- The ability to show personal initiative and be able to work collaboratively as part of a busy, creative team as well as being able to work autonomously and be flexible with a self-motivated approach is essential.
