Leston Japaljarri Spencer
Leston Japaljarri Spencer was born in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) in 1988 and grew up in the community of Nyirripi, 500km northwest of Mparntwe. Leston has been painting with Warlukurlangu Artists since 2012. Like most Warlpiri artists, he paints his traditional country stories which are passed down from generation to generation.
Artist statement
This sculpture reflects the artist’s observations, interactions and experiences while working in the Warlukurlangu art centre, reflecting the space as one of family gatherings and artistic experimentation.
