Veronica Daniels
Veronica Daniels was born in Yuendumu and has spent time living both there and in Balgo. Veronica is the daughter of renowned Warlayirti Artists and senior Law woman Sarah (Manaya) Daniels. Veronica sometimes paints her mother’s country called Mina Mina and her father’s country around Yuendumu. Veronica paints tjurnu (waterholes) and the abundance of mangarri (bush tucker) including kumpupatja (bush tomato), ngaarlukutu (bush coconut) and tjirrilpatja (bush carrots). Veronica also includes the rainbow serpent in many of her works.
Artist statement
In this painting, Veronica Daniels tells of her mother, Sarah Daniel’s country. Depicted by the circular shapes are the various waterholes that are found in this area, while the sections of different colours and dots tell of the bush tucker that is aplenty here.
