Pammy Kemarr Foster

Pammy Kemarr Foster paints with the Epenarra artists collective. She is a Waramungu and Alyawarr woman born in Tennant Creek and raised between Ampilatwatja and Wutunugurra (Epenarra). She began painting from an early age, learning from her aunt Susie Peterson and her grandmother Jessie Peterson, both well-known artists from Wutunugurra. Pammy paints intricate works depicting the bush plants and landscapes of the Wutunugurra region. “I like to learn more about my Country- my grandmother’s Country. Painting is the way of learning.”

Artist statement

In Flowers at Sunset, intricate nets of dotting coalesce to form a richly textured surface. Bush flowers bloom rhythmically across the canvas, interspersed with the ubiquitous white-trunked eucalypts that are scattered throughout the landscape around Wutunugurra. The work responds to the changing colours of the desert landscape. As the sun sets, Alyawarr Country is cast in reds, oranges and yellows.
