Vanessa Inkamala
Vanessa Inkamala was born in 1968 at Ntaria (Hermannsburg), a mission established by German Lutheran missionaries at the end of the 19th century. Vanessa’s grandmother’s brother is Albert Namatjira. Vanessa lives in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) and paints in the watercolour tradition. She paints the landscape of her ancestors, which is the country she belongs to.
Artist statement
Two Miles river is the English name, they use to call it with a little name before, but I forget.
This river runs through Mt Sonder to Glen Helen, Organ Pipe, Ntaria and Finke River.
We went in April with Selma (Coulthard) to do a workshop with Ntaria School students. We teach them watercolour and looking at the creek flowing.
