Lena Campbell was born in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) and grew up in Titjikala. Her mother is a Luritja woman from Mt. Dare near Finke. Her father was from Titjikala and her grandfather a Pitjantjatjarra man. Lena’s Tjukurrpa is Eagle Dreaming.
Lena Campbell takes her inspiration from the country around Titjikala, and her subject matter includes bush fruits, witchetty grubs and wild flowers (mai wiru). Lena’s flowing designs and earthy colours reflect the natural environment of Titjikala and her close relationship with the land. Lena works in a diverse range of mediums including acrylic on canvas, lino cut, screen printing, silk screen and ceramics.
