Rachel Rankine Nangala
Rachel Rankine Nangala was born in Alekarenge (Ali Curung) in 1967. Rachel is Kaytetye and currently lives between Darwin and Alekarenge. Rachel began painting in the late 1980s at the Ali Curung Women’s Centre. She takes a meticulous and calculated approach to her paintings, planning each one out before she starts and experimenting in an array of styles.
Rachel Rankine Nangala has depicted muddied ngapa (water) flowing through the sandy hills of the desert. The orange water flows from a central stream out into a multitude of thin trickles, the capillaries of life.
