Lance James
Lance James lives at Kaltukatjara with his family but regularly visits Mparntwe (Alice Springs) for respite and a chance to paint. He has been painting with Bindi Mwerre Anthurre Artists since 2007.
Artist statement
Pitjantjatjara artist Lance James paints his homeland around Kaltukatjara (Docker River), over 230kms west of Uluru. Since he was a young boy, Lance has painted the horses, bulls and cowboys that occupied his country. His affinity with the horse is particularly evident, into which he imbues great movement, strength and grace. Lance uses humour and sensitivity to explore a narrative of childhood memories and adventure and a love of country.
